I have been all over the place in my teaching career - different states, different grade levels, etc...
I got my Bachelor's degree and first teaching certificate in Texas at the University of Dallas. During my time there I student taught in a second grade classroom and loved it!
After I graduated from college I decided I wasn't quite ready to move back home to Maryland and wanted to get a Masters degree, so I accepted a position in the PLACE Corps program at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
I taught Kindergarten in a Catholic school in Los Angeles for three years and got my Masters in Reading Instruction and a California teaching certificate while I was out there. I also had the opportunity to work with grades K-3 as a reading tutor.
It wasn't until my third year of teaching Kinder that I discovered the wonderful world of teacher blogging and Teachers Pay Teachers and became obsessed with making my own products, using cute fonts for everything, and sharing ideas with the blogging world.
I have a pretty amazing family and after three years of living across the country from them and only being able to see them twice a year I decided that it was time to move back home to Maryland. So, the first grade teacher at my school, who also happens to be one of my best friends, and I packed up my car and road tripped from California to Maryland over the summer! We stopped in some pretty cool places but I only have two pictures left from the trip because my phone with all of my pictures on it broke and I didn't have them backed up :(

Since I moved back to the East Coast I have been teaching Fifth grade English/Language Arts and Social Studies for two years in Virginia and loving it! I love Fifth Grade and I especially love being departmentalized because I love teaching reading and writing :)
